PIA never dumps a whole solution on you. It breaks every problem into small moves, one per panel, so nothing piles up in your head at once. A ₱100 bag now costs ₱120. What is the percentage increase? Here it is, the PIA way.

  1. The problem

    ₱100 to ₱120

    PIA: The price went up. By what percent? Let’s find out.

  2. Find the change

    ₱120 − ₱100 ₱20 more

    PIA: First, how much did it go up? New price minus old price.

  3. Compare to the start

    20 ÷ 100 = 0.20

    PIA: Divide by the ORIGINAL price, where it started. That’s the whole trick.

  4. Done

    20%

    Check: 20% of ₱100 = ₱20 ✓

Self-determination theory

Three things have to be true
or nobody keeps going.

Deci and Ryan's model says motivation needs autonomy, competence and relatedness. Miss one and a student stops — not because the maths is hard, but because the loop stopped being worth it. PIA is built around all three.

  1. Autonomy

    You pick the tutor. You ask for the hint, or you don't. Nothing starts a topic on your behalf and nothing decides you're finished.

    In PIA: the agent is your choice, and it stays your choice.

  2. Competence

    Problems land just past what you can already do. Far enough to be worth solving, close enough that you get there.

    In PIA: difficulty follows your streak, not the class timetable.

  3. Relatedness

    Someone on the other side is paying attention. Not scoring you — remembering you.

    In PIA: your agent knows what tripped you up last session, and says so.
